In this course, I will teach you a playful approach that will help you discover the ease of watercolor painting. With a new spraying technique, you will create a vibrant tree landscape with fascinating colors. I will demonstrate how this ease conjures light in clouds and water representations. I will also show you the importance of a skillful preliminary sketch. The drawing determines the relationship between the sky, nature and the foreground, which significantly shapes the expression of the picture. I will vividly build up the watercolor using a technique that is crucial for the way the water flows. The goal is a composition suffused with light. To achieve this, I explain the color values that give the picture depth and space and guide the viewer’s gaze to the horizon. Using photos that reflect the different light in nature during the course of a single day, I explain how you can use watercolor to capture this flickering.
The new spraying technique is described in the recently published book “Werner Maier, Aquarellmalerei, Bäume, stimmungsvolle Bilder, Stepp bei Stepp in neuer Technik malen”. Christophorus Verlag. ISBN 978-3-86230-452-3
