Luise Kloos

works in painting, drawing, photography, graphics, installations, dance performances, exhibition design, workshops, and cultural management – the artist Luise Kloos, born in Judenburg in 1955, is active in many fields. After graduating in education and studying and teaching at the Graz University of Technology and the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, she founded “next” in 1995 – an association for contemporary art that regularly attracts attention with exciting international exhibitions and art projects.
Luise Kloos has always been interested in other countries and cultures, as can be seen from her extensive study trips, which have also taken her to the USA, India and Burma. The artist often develops her works based on the spaces or situations that present themselves to her. Among other things, she realized a fiber-optic installation at the Yeshiva University Museum in NYC in 2003, which received great international attention. In 2015 she was invited to Zagreb, where she created a large-scale installation for International Holocaust Remembrance Day in the Maestrovic Pavilion. Her works revolve around the theme of “silence”. Numerous national and international prizes and awards. Exhibitions in Austria, Germany, the United States, India, Finland, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Great Britain, Poland, among others.
