Dear art lovers, dear friends of the Kunstakademie, dear artists, dear participants, dear visitors,

Even 75 years after Anne Frank wrote this sentence, it has lost none of its meaning. Art and artistic creativity can also be the key to positive change in the world for each and every one of us. As Susanne Pfeffer reveals with her exhibition “Museum” at the MMK in Frankfurt, art shows the special ability of people to create visions and counter-concepts beyond the current reality; alternative ways of seeing and thinking that expand our consciousness. Committed to this idea, I am particularly pleased that our 2020 program catalog not only reveals our wide range of courses, but also underlines the idea of understanding art as an anthropological constant.

We are offering over 150 courses this year under the motto CREATING ART. These include the continuation of our successful master classes with Rosa Loy and Jo Bukowski with the master class meeting. We now welcome Michael Triegel to our circle of lecturers for the master classes, who will open up a new perspective on painting with a fascinating master class on portrait painting. Transmedia art has become an integral part not only of contemporary art, but also of our everyday lives. For this reason, we have combined courses with music, poetry and, last but not least, courses in which digital media play an important role in this program. However, the decisive factor for all forms of artistic expression is a personal attitude, an individual perspective on life and the world and, in particular, an awareness of one’s own power of expression. We try to take into account the ability to reflect, the courage to break new ground and to give it a visual form by offering a wide variety of courses. We are pleased about the diversity of our lecturers as well as the diversity of our participants.
