In recent years, drawing has once again been recognised as the foundation of visual arts. Drawing actually opens up a wide range of skills that we can use in painting and sculpture. We begin on the first day by drawing animal specimens that are available on site. This is a good way to get started and familiarise yourself with different materials. On the second and third days, we draw nudes from a model. There will be long, detailed sessions as well as short poses so that we can combine quick, spontaneous sketching with precise observation. On the fourth day, we will focus on portraiture, also using a model. The various positions used in the history of portrait drawing will be explained and practised. On the last day, there will be an opportunity to draw a self-portrait using a mirror on site and to make sketches in the room. Alternatively, you can draw from photos you have brought with you. All in all, this is a very intensive drawing course.
