Born in Vienna in 1961
After ten years of training at the Kasimir studio and at the graphic arts vocational school, he established himself as a printmaker in Vienna in 1990.
In 1997, he moved to Mödling (Lower Austria) and joined the R. Voltmann studio. Since then, he has been working with national and international artists.
From 2000 onwards, he created numerous etchings of his own. Since 2007, he has been working with the noble printing process of ‘heliogravure’, where he translates his own photographic image designs into printmaking as heliogravure.
He has been represented in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally.
Rainer Voltmann is a consultant for the Neuhauser Kunstmühle and gives courses at the Künstlerbund Mödling, art ditacta Innsbruck, Malakademie Goldegg, Künstlerdorf Neumarkt a.d.Raab, Akademie Geras, Papiermachermuseum Steyrermühl, etc.
