Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of watercolour painting and discover the enormous range between natural representation and free interpretation. In this course, we first approach nature – whether in the form of landscapes, plants or atmospheric moods – and let ourselves be inspired by its colours, shapes and structures.
Step by step, we will detach ourselves from the representational model in the creative process and develop our own abstract image ideas. Transparency, colour harmony, contrasts and composition play a central role in this process. The aim is to promote personal expression while learning techniques that allow you to navigate between reality and abstraction.
The course is aimed at beginners with basic knowledge as well as advanced students who want to deepen their artistic language in watercolour. In addition to practical exercises, you will receive individual inspiration and guidance to further develop your own style, as well as comprehensive information on the right materials.
Focus of the workshop:
– Image composition and stylisation, simplification of form
– The use of a reduced but expressive colour palette
– The deliberate use of contrasts to enhance liveliness
We will search for attractive light impressions around the Alte Saline, sketch and take photographs on site. A studio is available for us to work on our impressions in a more focused manner. Therefore, please bring weatherproof clothing, something to sit on and sturdy shoes. You should also be able to walk short distances.
