My 2026 course will once again focus on light – and where there is light, there is also darkness. In recent years, external lighting and internal light have emerged as very existential elements in this world. Bringing light into our images and spreading it further will be the focus of the next course. How do we work with a light background and how do we make colours glow? Do we always start from the light, or can we also make a dark image shine?
I would like to awaken in you the idea of the service one performs when bringing light into darkness. This not only reduces the hiding places for unpleasant things, but also helps people to see such things more clearly as they really are. Light is what almost every living being longs for. Even plants turn towards the sun to get more light. Light blesses, heals and comforts. And we are talking about both physical and inner light. The path of light is long and encompasses colours and beauty of almost every kind. Light is also the spark of life in every human being, which heals, sustains and motivates us to long for more and more light and to seek it at every step of our journey here. A lightness of heart, a lightness of spirit, a lightness of being are the joy and comfort that ease a person’s path at every turn. We need darkness more for sleep and rest.
At the beginning of the courses, I would like everyone to briefly tell me what light means to them.
As usual, the lessons will be conducted individually in personal consultations.
The class at the academy is the basis of the group work and determines the flow of the week. I expect all students to contribute in their own individual way.
As usual, there will be a short evaluation on Friday.
In view of the unpleasant smell, I would ask you to refrain from using oil paints.
