‘…the outline of a stone the face of silence brushes against every word …’
Carlfriedrich Claus

Painting without end …
An exploration of the colour white, the most neutral yet at the same time the most versatile of colours, as an expression of emptiness and fullness – the symbol of light …
Following a brief joint introduction, we will engage with the experiment: ‘Painting in White’, which does not mean that the under-layers cannot be dark and allow glimpses through.
A journey of discovery and a search for traces in a world of the diverse shades of the colour white. A layering, removal and compaction of paint layers, linear structures and interconnections. Engaging with different surfaces and peripheral areas. Striking a balance between spontaneity and a conscious painting process. Following initial studies, a small series of works will emerge in a diary-like manner, from which larger formats may develop. We will work with chalk and chalk powder, ash (powdered or bound with water) … with acrylic: painterly, graphic, using hot wax, used papers that can be colour-treated and collaged, and bitumen, among other materials…
You are free to use any tools you wish: brushes, spatulas, rags and your hands – scratching, scraping, wiping.
I will demonstrate various possibilities and techniques, including working with liquid wax and collage techniques.
Building on your existing knowledge, I will cater to your individual wishes and interests. We will hold group discussions about the paintings.
Everyone who enjoys colour, shapes and experimentation is warmly invited – whether you are experienced or less so on the path to mastery! And a love of the unexpected!
