Self-reflection, constructive criticism, fresh inspiration, a new direction

Drawing on daily sketches exploring fundamental themes in painting, as well as works brought along by participants, we will examine the current state of our artistic practice. The focus is on consciously engaging with our own work: What underpins it? What has become routine? Where do untapped possibilities lie? Through joint discussions of images, analysis and exchange, aspects come to light that are often overlooked in the creative process or have been pushed into the background. Formal considerations such as the treatment of space, composition, colour, and the relationship between graphic and gestural elements serve as a starting point for new artistic decisions.
Whether figurative or abstract – we question the authenticity of our visual language and explore the elements that shape our personal artistic signature. With an eye on our work to date, we dare to make a fresh start: we break away from outdated patterns, shed excess baggage and open up space for new developments. The course is aimed at advanced painters who are prepared to critically reflect on their own work and engage in an open process of creation and discovery. The aim is to refine one’s artistic approach, unlock hidden potential and continue one’s artistic development with renewed clarity and focus.
