Sky and sea, the two elemental phenomena of our planet, have fascinated artists for centuries. Especially when oil paint, which could be applied with great precision, emerged in the 15th century, the sea and sky became increasingly integrated into pictorial themes. In Impressionism, when artists went out into nature to paint, water and air played a prominent role. But even in contemporary art, the unrivalled artist Gerhard RICHTER shows us how to translate sky and water into magnificent images.
Gerhard ALMBAUER has developed a completely odourless and unproblematic painting technique for his seminar participants so that oil paints can also be used in our seminar. We use acrylic paints as a base colour, then the oil paint is applied very finely or with a palette knife.
