The book as a working medium: We work intuitively, experimentally and in a multi-layered way. The focus shifts from detail to series, to object form and back again. We explore where our own artistic theme wants to develop in the space of the book: … a unique book, a loose-leaf collection or a single-sheet booklet, collaged or painted, drawn or with text. The medium of the book is multi-dimensional. We develop the inner life, set the beginning and end, and create an overall sound. The book can become a space for various artistic strategies: you can combine images and text or develop serial drawings. Or you can compose with monochrome surfaces on canvas instead of paper and then use these as book pages. Or perhaps your penchant is for text, for writing, which changes its form when handwritten or stamped. The word is recharged by the space of the book. When making books, we oscillate between the individual elements, always keeping the whole in view. The medium of the book is free in terms of technique. I will also demonstrate three basic bookbinding techniques. Individual corrections and joint workshop discussions accompany the individual work processes and broaden the view of the book as an artistic platform.
Previous experience in artistic work is an advantage.
