Individual visual language/idea and painterly expression
This intensive seminar focuses on developing a personal visual language based on your own colour canon. The focus is on colour as a vehicle for expression, attitude and inner necessity – beyond purely decorative effect.
Based on colour theory (contrasts, temperature, saturation, tonal values), the effect of colour in the pictorial space is examined and immediately transferred into painting practice. Questions of composition, pictorial balance and condensation accompany the working process. There is a particular emphasis on reduction and conscious colour choices: which colours are essential, how can a viable personal colour palette be created? Image discussions and individual conversations help to sharpen one’s own painterly signature and the confident use of colour as a central means of expression.
