This course is intended for anyone who wishes to engage seriously with painting and is not suitable for beginners.
We regard the two-dimensional image as a pictorial space. Painting is spatial depth in relation to the picture surface. The concept of pictorial space stems from life experiences – that is, the space that surrounds us – and from the study of other paintings from all eras. The way in which the artist connects depth with the picture surface is the true artistic achievement and makes the painting unique. This course aims to reveal the roots of colour painting as a fundamental form of expression. The works may be representational or non-representational.
We recommend taking both courses.
