This three-day introductory course is aimed at creative professionals who are looking for more guidance in the ever-expanding AI landscape and wish to gain a better understanding of artificial intelligence – no prior technical knowledge required.

Together, we will explore fundamental questions: What exactly is AI? How does it work? And how can it be meaningfully integrated into one’s own artistic practice? The focus will be on image generators and so-called ‘prompting’ – working with language as a creative tool for developing images, ideas and visual concepts. Step by step, you will learn to use AI consciously, to experiment with it and to realistically assess its potential.

The aim of the workshop is to build AI competence: greater confidence in handling the technology, better navigation of the diverse range of options available, and above all, greater autonomy in its application. AI is not viewed as a replacement, but as a supportive tool – as a source of ideas, a sketching aid, or a catalyst for new perspectives in the interplay between analogue and digital practice.

In addition, we will address ethical and legal issues: What responsibilities come with the use of AI? Where are the opportunities, and where are the limits? This fosters a reflective, self-determined approach to AI – as the foundation for creative freedom and a confident outlook on the future.
