There is so much vitality inherent in a spontaneous stroke; learning to see imperfection as perfection is a truly fascinating challenge.
So you’ll learn to simplify, to leave things out, to play around – and, of course, a whole host of painting techniques, as well as a great deal about composition and colour.
But painting also offers other incredibly exciting challenges: Engaging with the painting process, breaking new ground, and finding enthusiasm for the unexpected are essential parts of this course. The painting process itself is, above all, a driving force for inspiration.
In terms of content, you are free to choose your own subject matter. You can work representatively, in a representational style or abstractly, and in this course you will learn to create expressive paintings using a reduced visual language. This gives rise to new images that leave room for interpretation and are happy to play with perception, unsettle and raise questions.
