This course aims to help you become more aware of your own approach to painting and to bring your vision of your own work as close as possible to the actual result. We practise developing and unfolding our own individual way of seeing specifically through ‘intuitive painting’. This is based on the ‘automatic drawing’ of the Surrealists in the early 20th century. Their aim was to infuse the process of drawing with poetry that is free from control or any specific purpose.
It is always about understanding what makes you a unique individual and how this gives rise to your authentic art. We examine your previous practice and how it relates to the subject matter. We use the insights gained from this as the basis for new works. I carefully guide each participant’s process through in-depth group and one-to-one discussions. The course offers a deep insight into abstract painting and is ideal for discovering new ways of connecting with your own intuition. This course is an invitation to anyone interested to immerse themselves in the artistic world of the unconscious. A Chinese tea ceremony facilitates this connection and forms an integral part of the course.
Many years of practical experience and engagement with one’s own art and art in general are not strictly necessary, but they do make it much easier to grasp the knowledge being imparted.
