Biography: Katja Gramann
Born in 1973 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein
Magister Artium in German Studies & History (University of Mannheim)
Master of Arts in German Literature & Language (University of Kitchener/Waterloo, Canada)
2001 to 2007: Training in abstract painting in Berlin and Munich at the independent art school run by Jürgen Sage and Astrid Albers
2007–2017: Further training
Since 2010: Working as a freelance artist, with a large studio in Gräfelfing near Munich
Since 2021, lecturer in free painting at the independent art academies AdbK Kolbermoor & “Kunstfabrik” in Vienna, “Akademie Eigenart” in Bad Heilbrunn, and from 2027 at the Römerstein Art Academy and Neustift Abbey. Ongoing course programme in the studio.
Since 2022, I have been represented on a permanent basis by the FROCK Gallery in Ypres (Belgium)
Artistic Statement
For me, being able to engage with art is the greatest gift of all, for art transcends the everyday and thus lifts life out of mediocrity.
I place myself and my works within the tradition of informal painting.
