Mutsuo Hirano, born in Hyōgo Prefecture in 1952, studied German language and literature at Tenri University and at the same time studied German at the Philipps-Universität Marburg and at the Institute for Painting and Graphics there. In 1990, he studied art history at the Philipps-Universität Marburg. He has exhibited in Germany and abroad.
Mutsuo Hirano works together with Thomas Lange in his courses.
