Wolfgang Marx was born in 1956, is a painter and lives as a freelance artist in Vienna. He studied painting and graphic arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Rudolf Hausner and taught there from 1985 to 2021.
In 2005, he initiated the establishment of a painting workshop at the Institute of Fine Arts, played a major role in its founding and headed it until 2021. The focus of his teaching was primarily on teaching traditional and modern painting techniques, and he was particularly interested in experimenting with new materials. Wolfgang Marx’s teaching is based on the experience he gained during his teaching career at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, as well as from his own artistic practice as a representational-realistic painter.
