Series of pictures (3-day course)
Impulsively, spontaneously, without thinking too much, we make 30 small drawings (DIN A 5) and select the successful works from them. All the remaining sheets are further processed. Then we select the good pictures again and take on the rest again… and so on until we are satisfied with all 30 pictures. We don’t give up on any sheet!
After each round, we change our drawing materials: crayons, gouache paints, watercolors, ink, ballpoint pens, chalk, etc. Often one sheet provides the inspiration for the next – and if the flow of painting comes to a halt, we don’t think twice about just moving on to the next picture. The large number of sheets and the small format make it easy to work without a care in the world. We use photos, objects, people, texts, and scenes for inspiration. The mix of materials favors imaginative coincidences that often give the work a surprising twist. With each successful work, courage grows. Material: various papers (all DIN A 5), pencils, acrylic paints, watercolors, ink, ballpoint pens, chalk, etc. Note: You are welcome to implement your drawings in larger-format pictures in the subsequent course with me.
Immediately following this course, the course ‘Image Recycling’ transfers this image finding concept to a larger format.
