Comics have actually been around forever, from the cave paintings at Lascaux and the Bayeux Tapestry to Wilhelm Busch, Tintin and beyond. People love stories. If you enjoy storytelling and drawing, then join me in this workshop as we delve into the world of comics and graphic novels.
In this intensive workshop, I’d like to introduce you to the basics of comic drawing. Even if you are already an experienced artist, you are very welcome to join us to deepen your knowledge.
Feel free to bring an idea for a story that you’d like to bring to life in the workshop, or continue working on a story you’ve already started. Through exercises for beginners and advanced learners, you’ll expand your skills and knowledge.
Bring along your favourite comics or graphic novels.

Key topics of the workshop naturally include:
• How do I create a comic character?
• How do I handle text and where should I place the speech bubbles?
• How do I design an engaging page layout?
• How do I tell a gripping story?
• What different materials are available (pencils, ink, paper)?
Over the four days, we will explore all these questions and many more that arise during the practical work, and which I can answer thanks to my many years of experience.
