Contemporary watercolour painting is not about achieving perfect realism, but rather an individual transformation of the subject in terms of form, colour and texture.
Participants should recognise and nurture their own strengths so that their paintings take on a soul. Experience and knowledge should remain in the background, allowing room for the new through risk-taking, imagination and openness.
Watercolour offers so many wonderful possibilities for making the painting process exciting. It is important to develop a fundamental sense of trust in order to create surprising intermediate results and respond to them.
In addition to the traditional approach to watercolour painting, new techniques will also be demonstrated and tried out.
Numerous discussions of the paintings are designed to support the course’s objectives in an inspiring and motivating way. Bernhard Vogel will also be painting in watercolour himself and will explain his philosophy as he does so. An intense artistic atmosphere will develop within the group, and everyone will be able to surpass their own expectations. A variety of subjects will be provided, but please also bring your own subjects in the form of photographs.
