Excitement, dynamism, exploration and sensory discovery, all aimed at achieving a new openness that pushes personal artistic boundaries. Unconventional and intuitive, bubbling surfaces, a living palette, intense, vibrant radiance. Symbolic scribbles, shifting colours, stencils – through patterns and texture, we arrive at free painting. Unusual painting tools enrich the painting experience. We’ll primarily use water-based paints such as watercolour and acrylic, as well as all kinds of pens or even spray paint on paper or medium to large-format canvases. Find your own voice through action painting, gesture and experimentation. From abstract to figurative. A painterly journey of discovery towards freedom in art. To complement this, Christian Awe will offer insights into his artistic world. Please feel free to bring along samples of your own work or pieces you’d like to continue working on. Any materials you wish to work with and experiment using are welcome in this course. The study week is rounded off by critiques of works you’ve brought along and those you’ve created during the course, discussions on contemporary art, and the planning and staging of a group exhibition featuring the participants’ works. Suitable for beginners and advanced students alike.
