Wood is a living, versatile material – warm, textured and transformable. In this course, we will approach this traditional material in various ways. We will learn to see wood not only as a material that can be carved or sculpted, but above all as a plastic medium with almost unlimited design possibilities.
Above all, we will experiment with new approaches to wood carving based on the additive principle of layering. Starting with a drawing, lines and surfaces are translated into space to create independent, organic forms. The focus is on practical work with layered wooden elements and their processing – including the use of sanding machines. The course offers space for individual artistic approaches and supports the development of personal forms of expression. Important historical and contemporary artistic positions are also incorporated throughout. The course is aimed at anyone who wants to experiment with wood in a new way – from curious beginners to experienced sculptors.
