What would painting be without portraits, without encounters with others or with ourselves?
The question of who we would like to explore in our paintings is the first
important building block of a picture.
Who inspires us? Who makes us laugh or cry? Who do we associate with memories? Are they actors, certain professions, politicians,
people on the street, people from certain cultures, people from films or
plays, certain roles, are they more quiet portraits or portraits full of facial expressions?
Is it about emotions and mood or a special colour distortion?
Do you work in series and perhaps on a smaller or larger scale?
For me, the painterly reproduction of portraits is one of the most beautiful artistic endeavours.
