A solid preliminary sketch forms the basis for any graphic or painterly work. Furthermore, the pencil offers a decisive advantage: it is the simplest and quickest tool to get hold of.
In this intensive course, we cover all the essential aspects of drawing: we begin with variations in pencil grip and determining proportions, explore classical hatching techniques, and try out various methods for lending the image the desired sense of space. In doing so, we pay close attention to the interplay of light and shadow in relation to the material of the objects.
This traditional approach is complemented by dynamic designs incorporating unconventional techniques in areas where the academic approach reaches its limits.
As the course progresses, we will explore the principles of perspective at a leisurely pace, with detailed and clear guidance. We will also give due attention to the subject of composition: We carry out targeted exercises to get the most out of the given reference.
The workshop programme is pedagogically well-thought-out and structured around practical application; each theoretical session is complemented by appropriate exercises, whilst I provide individual feedback and corrections.
The workshop is aimed at all motivated artists who wish to strengthen their drawing skills. No prior knowledge is required.
