This course explores a wide range of approaches to drawing. After all, drawing is a fundamental skill for many forms of artistic expression. Drawing is, above all, a matter of practice and can be mastered to a high degree. On the first day, we will start with taxidermied animals, so there will be no time constraints. We will sketch and work at our own pace. On the second and third days, we will draw the nude from a model. There will be long, detailed sessions as well as short poses, so that we can combine quick, spontaneous sketching with precise observation. On the fourth day, we will focus on the figure and the portrait, again from a model. We will explain and practise the various poses used throughout the history of portrait drawing. On the final day, there will be an opportunity to draw a self-portrait using a mirror on site and to produce sketches in the studio. Alternatively, you can draw from photographs you have brought with you. All in all, a very intensive drawing course.
