Synesthesia – Experimental Painting

Questions of abstraction and realism in relation to the forest are strongly inspired by art historical and contemporary perspectives: mysticism, beauty, refreshment, confusion, economic factor, protective forest, the forest as an important part of coping with climate change. Individual themes are explored using experimental methods. Compositions, forms, light and perspectives lead us into aesthetic questions, and the question of ‘how’ a picture should be leads us directly to questions of expression.
Synesthesia is often used unconsciously, especially in painting. We often lack the words to describe a picture. So we use different sensory impressions to paint a picture in its entirety, for example. This intensive workshop explores the fascinating phenomenon of synesthesia, in which the senses merge. Participants will experience how sounds can be transformed into colours and visually represented. Through various experimental painting techniques, a deeper understanding of the connection between auditory and visual stimuli will be created. Each participant will explore and expand their own synesthetic approaches to individual design. It is an unquestionably creative process that brings inner treasures to light.
Participants will contribute their individual wishes and experiences on the theme of the forest to the painting process, and the pictures will be developed step by step through discussion and instruction. There will be personal and general work meetings and a daily lecture on art history. All of this deepens the learning process and the further development of individual artistic work.
