Want to paint, but not just with brushes and paint?
We tear, fold, spray and paint paper, rub it with pigments or expand it with drawings – enriching the painting on the large stage of the canvas.
The course continues in the same creative vein when we partially colour coloured papers using bleaching processes. This creates unique painterly surfaces and brushstrokes of bright colour fringes that are guided and intentional, random and experimental, always surprising and magical in their results.
This is how lively painting collages, whether abstract or figurative, are created from structure, break, layering and depth, which are difficult to achieve with pure paint on canvas.
We regularly discuss our progress and look at selected contemporary artists who work at the interface of collage and painting.
The course is open to abstract and figurative painting as well as pure collage.
